Dover, DE --- Delaware State University quarterback Vashon Winton (r-fr. 6-2, 195) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for his performance in the Hornets’ 38-6 win over Millersville (Pa.) last Saturday.
Winton was named MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week today (Monday) after completing 14-of-18 passes (78%) for 193 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown to Shaheer McBride in the game.
Winton, starting just his second collegiate game, completed passes to six different receivers during the Millersville contest. At one point in the game, he completed 11 of 12 pass attempts.
The Chicago, IL native also rushed for 26 yards on three carries.
Through two games, Winton has completed 26 of 39 passes (66.7%) for 312 yards. He has thrown one touchdown and three interceptions. His pass efficiency rating of 126.94 ranks 49th among Division I-AA quarterbacks. |
