Juan Perez was selected in the recent Major League Baseball draft by the Colorado Rockies in the 18th round. Perez, from Orlando's University High School and Central Florida Community College, played one season with the Wildcats and earned first team 2010 All-MEAC honors at both 2B and relief pitcher.

June 22, 2010 - Former Alabama A&M baseball player Marcus Spencer recently inked a seven-year professional contract with the Chicago White Sox. In Spencer's final season with the maroon and white, he finished with a .305 batting average and a team-best seven home runs.

| The Golden Rams of Albany State University were crowned 2010 SIAC Baseball Champions, defeating #2E seeded Benedict College by a score of 5-3. ASU finished 4-0 in the tournament while Benedict College posted a 3-2 record. |

| Lincoln University becomes fully active D-II Institution

Lincoln University of Pennsylvania has been approved for active National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II membership effective September 1, 2010. As a Division II member, Lincoln will be able to subscribe to the National Letter of Intent, apply for enhancement funds, and earn the right to compete for national championships. Additionally, the University becomes a voting member at the 2011 NCAA Convention.

| Barvenia Wooten-Collier named Head Coach of Virginia Union Lady Panther Basketball

July 2, 2010 - Barvenia Wooten-Collier is no stranger to Virginia Union University Panthers Athletics. While attending VUU, she led the Lady Panthers in scoring and rebounding during her junior and senior years. She was a part of two CIAA Championship teams (1981 & 1982) and led them to a NCAA Division II National Championship in 1983.

Jim Junot, was Sports Information Director at Virginia State University for the past three years and has had a 23-year association with sports administration.

Former Coppin State assistant coach Sherman Reed was named Friday as the new head coach of the Eagle program announced director of athletics Derrick Ramsey. Reed replaces Mike Scolinos who left the program in June 2010 to pursue other professional opportunities.

| Virginia State University's John Bivens, was drafted in the 12th Round of todays MLB Draft. Bivens was the 369th pick overall by the Milwaukee Brewers. Bivens batted .293 with 5 triples, 5 home runs, 33 RBIs, and made 16 of 20 attempted stolen bases for VSU. |
